Garcia Volunteers Win Award

This week, Garcia student volunteers and their advisor, Salvador Velasco, Jr., were recognized as the Volunteer Group of the Year by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Illinois Chapter.  Garcia students are required to complete 100 service hours and have found an appreciative partner with the MS Society.  Garcia student volunteers have participated in the annual MS walk, cheered on MS Society entrants in the Chicago marathon, served as greeters and check-in staff at symposiums and fundraisers.

In recognition of the award, a reporter from NBC Chicago and Telemundo interviewed Mr. Velasco and several of the student volunteers for stories on volunteerism.  You can watch the story here.
